Last year I was Majoring in ECE (Early Childhood Education); however, my grades faltered in the second semester and I wasn't too keen on staying in ECE. This year I changed my Major to Computer Graphic Design. I am pretty happy with it, though sometimes I meet a child who reminds me how much I love teaching.
That is what happened today. While on the Computers at school, a mother and her child, a little boy named Micheal, whom I never met before sat at the computers near me. The mother's cell phone went off repeatedly, so I just watched him when she went to talk on the phone where there was better connection.
I didn't have to watch him, she didn't ask, and she probably didn't even know I was keeping my eye on him. I watched him because I didn't want him to run off and to have her have to chase after him. So I talked to him about the computer.
He loved the computer. He was pointing out all the picture icons on the web browser. He would point at the home icon and say 'house' or at the puppy in the help window and say 'doggy' which was pretty entertaining. He was quite the smart young child.
He was about the age group I was studying to teach last year, K-1st grade. It reminded me that children are wonderfull. What struck me most was that the child seemed lack attention from his his mother. she did show much love for him, as I expected, but she wasn't that attentive.
He became attached to me rather quickly, pulling my hand when he wanted to show me something, or when he wanted me to go over to his computer because I decided to sit down at the one I was working at.
I hope that my new friend Micheal grows up to be a great person. he is so bright and happy. It makes me miss Teaching.
Yea so I am the Vice President of the Computer Graphics Design club, and That makes me happy. I'll be putting lotsa stuff up, because well I now have access to a computer with the goods. lol peace out all.
